Home Dedication Held for Lisa Scott-Hicks
After several long months, hours of dedication, and a lot of hard work Lisa Scott-Hicks completed her home on Andrews Drive. Many members of the community, including family and friends, volunteers, donors, and Habitat board members and staff celebrated the momentous and joyful occasion with Lisa. Jayne Johnson, the Executive Director of the Farmville Area Habitat for Humanity, led the dedication and with the help of the Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors presented Lisa with a key to her forever home. One especially touching moment was the dedication of an ornamental cherry tree planted in Lisa's front yard in memory of dedicated volunteer, William “Bill” Blackburn. Bill committed to help build Lisa’s home, and he received a Golden Hammer Award recently in recognition of the many hours he worked. Bill passed away unexpectedly just few weeks before the home dedication. Following remarks to note the day, a reception was held by Lisa's church, First Baptist Church of Farmville. This day was spent rejoicing with Lisa as she has built the foundation for a solid future by building her beautiful, safe, and affordable home.
